The city of Fürth and science

Since 2007, the city of Fürth has been not only a university location, but also a city of science and is the only municipality in Bavaria to hold this title. The city of Fürth stands for a rich cultural but also economic heritage.

But especially in the last few years a lot has happened. For example, the "Uferstadt" is home to the Central Institute for New Materials and Process Technology of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg as well as the project group of the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits. Fürth thus impressively demonstrates how fruitful cooperation between science, research and industry works.

The city of culture

If you are looking for cultural events, Fürth is the place to be. The "Stadttheater Fürth" presents drama, musical theater, dance, concerts as well as theater for children and young people. The "Comödie Fürth" is home to Franconian comedians Volker Heißmann and Martin Rassau, both known as "Waltraud and Mariechen" and their Fürth dialect. The "Kulturforum Fürth" with its two venues stands for concerts, small arts and cabaret, literature readings, films but also fine arts. In autumn, the "Michaelis Kirchweih", one of the largest and most important street fairs in Bavaria and with more than 800 years of history, welcomes visitors.

The city of Fürth and sports

Besides the possibility to go for a walk or a run in the "Stadtpark" or the "Pegnitzauen", a visit to the "Fürthermare" is an option. During both the winter and summer months, recreational fun for the whole family, as well as relaxation, are guaranteed. For those who don't want to get active in sports themselves, a home game of the traditional Fürth club "SpVgg Greuther Fürth" in the "Stadion am Laubenweg" is recommended. In regard to its geographical location, Fürth forms the Middle Franconian city triangle with the cities of Erlangen and Nuremberg.
